LeMenager-Sm

This special meeting of COMPOSTING features the work of Stephanie LeMenager, Professor of English and Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon and founding co-editor of Resilience: A Journal of Environmental Humanities.

We have brought LeMenager out to Australia for “Hacking the Anthropocene” and, as a sideshow to the main event (to which you are all invited – see here), we are going to read her work. She has suggested excerpts from her most recent monograph, Living Oil: Petroleum Culture in the American Century, and an interview on orienting thought around energy. The theme is a perfect complement to our previous “Meet the Author” with Kathryn Yusoff on coal, LeMenager’s deeply political, materialist, queer, feminist take on energy cultures will make this a provocative session of COMPOSTING and invite us to rethink our entanglement in petro-cultures.

LeMenager will also be a spotlight hacker at the Symposium on the 26th, and talking on “cli-fi” and transformative fictions on Tuesday 30th – another event to which you are all welcome (see here for more!).
